Nowadays, the decoration of facades is most often made using artificial stone. Its official name is a decorative facing stone. It is able to simulate the texture of brick masonry or coarse stone, is also used to decorate fireplaces, walls and other interior items, as well as in restoration, where the structure and features of the stone allow you to reproduce ancient decoration and brickwork. For its production, sand, cement, various fillers and color pigments are used. It is also called tiles of decorative-base and facade-yellow.
The history of facial-chopper tiles has only a few decades, but it immediately contributed to a great competition of natural stone, since it differs in the simplicity and ease of installation, cheaper and does not require certain knowledge and skills to prepare the base, as well as experience in consolidating blocks. In addition, tiles with sharp and non -drilled edges greatly facilitates the process of finishing.
Although externally decorative-base tiles are similar to a natural stone, it is one and a half times lighter, which greatly simplifies its transportation. Due to the small thickness, the tile allows you to save space, and the rough surface of the reverse side facilitates the work on the decoration.
How many tiles to buy?
To calculate the required amount of tiles, you need to find out the surface area, multiplying its lengths by height, and subtract the area of doors, openings and windows. At the same time, when buying material, take it “in reserve”. The supply should be 12-13% of the total, and it is better to buy it immediately, so that later you do not encounter a problem when the main and additional parties differ in color, texture, pattern, etc. D. If angular elements are bought, their number is measured in linear meters, if planar – in square meters.
Facing
An artificial facing stone can be laid in two methods: seamless, in which the stones are located very tightly to each other, and with the embroidery of the seams, when there is a gap of 1.2-2.6 centimeters between the stones. The second method is more economical, therefore it is used more often, but some types of artificial stone imply exclusively using a seamless laying method.
