We live in the northern country and the question of insulation of the loggia for our compatriots is relevant. Let us highlight some expert advice today to understand how to properly insulate the loggia.
There are flaws that make the overwhelming number of people. Without paying due attention to the competent insulation of the loggia, they order the installation of double -glazed windows, the hacker flies the gaps, and then install the radiator and put the warm floor. This is fundamentally not true, since all the heat generated will “fly out” into the street. The loggia first needs to be heated qualitatively, following a thoughtful algorithm of actions, which we will talk about below.
Many people think that it is necessary to warm only the floor and walls, without paying due attention to the ceiling. Meanwhile, it is also important. To insulate the ceiling of the loggia, experts advise extruded polystyrene foam, which helps to retain heat. One of its main advantages is practicality, and the installation does not take a lot of effort and time. It should also be attributed to the pluses of extruded polystyrene foam its thickness, which is only 5 cm, which is 50% less than that of other materials.

Loggia insulation algorithm:
The first step is recommended to install plastic windows.
If there is a need to unite the loggia along with the room, then it will be necessary to dismantle the window and the balcony door.
After the first two points are made, we proceed to the insulation of the floor. We fill up all the holes and cracks with foam, we wait until the surface treated with foam dries, after which we cover the lower part of the walls with lubricating waterproofing.

Now it is necessary to take care of the issue of vapor barrier. With strong colds, condensate can form on the materials used, so it is necessary to lay an open film (polyethylene), specially designed for such cases.
Most of the work on the proper insulation of the loggia is already behind – there is a little left. Extruded polystyrene must be laid on the floor, after which the same must be done with the walls.
We sheathe the wall with gypsum plasters (some advantages of drywall were discussed here).
