Life in small space is quite complicated, and when a small child is also added to your family, a nuclear mixture is obtained. In addition to your main interior and things, you will have to accommodate a lot of children’s clothing, toys, books, strollers, swings and much more into the apartment, including the necessary changing tables, beds and cradles. What to do and how to correct the interior, choose children’s things, toys and various accessories, so that in a small apartment it was cozy of you all? Here are 15 tips for you.
1. Organize good and compact storage places. Take away clothes and toys away, for which the child is not yet ready. What the child has already grown from, send to garages or transfer to other mothers to further use. In the nearest cabinets, only things that you use daily should lie. Everything else should be postponed to the most inaccessible places.
2. Choose small -sized children’s accessories and toys. We understand that you want to buy a large railway for your child, but if this design in a collapsible form takes up your entire interior, then it is better not worth it. Choose craftsmen and shift tables smaller.
3. Hide some of the open cheap shelves from Ikea from floor to ceiling behind the curtain. It’s simple, you can buy temporary racks for storing diapers, towels and so on. All this may not have an interior look, so we suggest you hang a curtain under the ceiling and close all storage areas. This is one of the easiest ways to organize temporary storage, without expensive purchases and damage to the appearance of the room. By the way, racks from floor to ceiling is one of the most correct storage solutions in small apartments.
4. For storage of children’s books, you can choose thin shelves (also sold in Ikea – from the side they have the shape of an inverted letter “P”). On such shelves, you can store children’s books with the face in the direction of the room than to supplement the interior. Ordinary shelves will make you put books with a standard horizontal pile, which will take a certain space from the wall, and putting up books on narrow shelves, along the wall, on the contrary, will save place.
5. If you have suitcases or beautiful boxes, you can also use them as shelves and storage elements. Put them on each other, creating a variation of a chest of drawers, and inside you put things that you do not need very often (so as not to disassemble the structure often)
6. Use baskets for storing toys. In the same IKEA store you can buy large baskets or suspended elements for storing children’s toys. In them you can add up (and literally just throw it out) everything that your child scatters on the floor. It will be easier for you to buy one large storage basket, and just assemble everything from the floor in it in 2 minutes than to carefully lay out children’s toys by shelves or different boxes. And leave this basket to stand even in the center of the room, at least in the corner. If you buy a beautiful basket, then it will not spoil your interior.
7. If your family has bicycles or skis or some other sports equipment, come up with an original way to store it. For example, it is very popular to hang bicycles along the wall. Of course, you can leave them on the stairwell, if possible, but if not, then use them as a decoration – instead of paintings.
8. Some small toys can be stored on the wall. How? Buy a special bar with hooks on which you can hang bowls or shelves. And carefully throw crayons, pencils, pieces of LEGO and so on there.
9. So that your small child does not draw on the wallpaper, you can give him one wall in advance, painting it with chaloy paint. Roughly speaking, there is a special paint that turns any surface into a chalk board. Make one wall like that, and let your baby get fun as much as he wants.
10. Choose folding furniture multifunctional furniture. For example, a rack with a folding table for swaddling.
11. Turn the wall into an active zone. So that there are fewer toys on the floor, some of the developing toys can be transferred to the walls. For example, buy a magnetic board with an alphabet or wall scores, as well as other games that can be placed on the wall.
