Hare builders are well acquainted with drywall and its benefit. Drywall helps to cope with a large number of work faster and often even reduces the cost of repairs.
Drywall is produced in different versions: GKL, GKLV, GLClus and GKLVO. Simple drywall is noted as GKL and looks like a gray panel. If the panel has a green color, then it is GKLV or moisture -resistant drywall. Fireproof drywall (GCLO) is stained with pink, and green can also be moisture -resistant drywall with increased flame resistance (GKLVO).
If the drywall panel has a green color, then this means that it is moisture resistant. Moisture -resistant drywall people most often buy in bathrooms and for kitchens. But the product can be used in different parts of the house. Essentially, green drywall is a stronger version of drywall. Although if you are looking for a strong drywall, then you need GVL sheets. This is a gypsum sheet, which is extended by a standard gypsum cardboard in that cellulose is added to the gypsum core, which instantly increases the strength of the panel.
The green plasterboard panel has the same gypsum nucleus as that of ordinary drywall, but cardboard along the edges is much thicker and more practical. Due to the improved properties of this cardboard (it is covered with wax), drywall receives a certain level of moisture resistance.
The green color of the gimwarton does not affect drywall in any way. This is just a way to distinguish moisture -resistant panels from ordinary.
The wax layer increases the thickness of the panel. The additional thickness of the moisture -resistant drywall compensates for the loss of the strength of such a panel when filling with moisture. The fact is that when a moisture -resistant drywall gets wet, it becomes weaker than a standard drywall.
Not many people understand that moisture -resistant drywall is not intended to be watered with water. He is able to cope with humidity, but is not able to withstand water. Moisture can be in the air (for example, in the basement or in the bathroom), and the green drywall will not be damaged because of it (although it weakens). But if you decide to pour water on the walls, then you most likely ruin the drywall, even if it is moisture -resistant.
Installation of waterproof drywall does not differ from the installation of standard drywall. The same tools and methods are required to cut the panels.
