Screw pile is a steel pillar with a screw blade at the bottom. This blade has an inconspicuous width, which provides the possibility of manual screwing, and also allows you to increase the bearing abilities and strengthen the soil, since the interval gaps are compacted, and not loosened. Initially, such piles were used for supports of bridges and high-voltage lines, but today they are becoming more and more popular in low-rise construction, railway construction, electric grid construction to strengthen soil. To build piles, they are screwed into the ground by at least one and a half meters. If groundwater flows in the upper part, then the pile is increased to a certain depth and screwed until the complete passage of these layers. Screwing is carried out using levers. In simple conditions, two pieces of pipe 2 meters and scrap are required for this. In some cases, special devices are required. 4 people can do work.
What are the pluses of screw pile? They are universal and can be used in many areas. A screw foundation is suitable for pierces and berths, on slopes, above streams and so on. Work can be carried out at any time of the year and without restrictions on the state of the weather. Such a foundation is 20-30% cheaper than concrete, while it is built in 1-2 days and does not require mandatory earthwork. It is reliable, durable and is distinguished by a long service life.
There is an opinion that, subject to all the rules of production, installation and operation, the foundation on screw stilts can last at least a century. However, in low -rise construction, this method of erecting the foundation has been used not so long ago, about ten years, which, of course, does not allow to refute or confirm this opinion. However, for the entire time of use of screw piles, and this is not a little two hundred years, there were no cases of their quick failure.
And a few words about the decoration. In this quality, in the case of a screw foundation, decorative panels, basement siding and some other finishing materials are used.
