Planning is the most important stage of work. Everything depends on it – the choice of type, shape and color of the paving stones, as well as the choice of technology for preparing the base, volumes and the degree of complexity of work.
First you need to decide on the answers to the main questions – for which the coating will serve? Whether it will be intended for parking and passage of cars, or it is assumed that only pedestrians will walk along it? How the base should be prepared if the coating is used for cargo vehicles?
The choice of the pattern, color and shape of the paving stones depends on the surrounding landscape. The design and color that is ideal for the paths of the personal plot or for the framing of alpine slides will be inappropriate for a tagged area or parking parking lot.
It is necessary to measure the area on which the paving stones are supposed to be laid, and transfer the size to the scheme. Since in such cases we are talking about significant distances, it is recommended to use a special measuring tool – electronic or laser levels. It is a device that uses a laser beam to conduct measurements. The use of levels reduces the time spent on measurements many times, while high accuracy of measuring distances is maintained.
During measurements, a special tripod and a reflective plate are used, which is installed at the opposite end of the segment that must be measured. The measurement takes one second – exactly so much time is needed to press the button on this device.
The first stage of work is the same for all types of foundation – this is the preparation of a bed for a multi -layer “pie”, on which paving stones will subsequently be laid. For this purpose, the upper layer of soil is removed, or the coating designed to replace is dismantled. The depth of soil excavation depends on the type of base-for a light “pedestrian” base, this is 10-15 cm, for “heavy” bases-20-30 cm.
If the soil is sandy, the devices of the bearing layer are not required. For the installation of the base on ordinary soil, clean, homogeneous sand without pebbles and clay impurities is used. A layer of sand 5-10 cm is poured into the prepared bed, leveled using a rake and rules. Further, the sand layer must be shed at the rate of at least 10 liters of water per square meter.
After spilling, the layer is compacted using a vibration plate or manual tamping. Borders (border tiles) are installed on a liquid solution (M100). The thickness of the “clip” from the solution where the curb or curb is installed – 10 cm. After installing the borders are sprinkled with sand and compacted.
In accordance with the selected laying pattern, a paving stones with a gap of 5-7 mm are installed. After the end of the laying, the surface is aligned with a rubber hammer, checked by the level.
The sand “rubs” with the help of a brush into the gaps between the paving stones. After the gaps are filled, excess sand is washed off with a stream of water with weak pressure.
