Wood is a building material with unique properties: it supports the perfect microclimate in the room. It is also indispensable for the production of various interior items, household utensils. However, if you do not process the wood correctly, it will quickly become unusable. Where to start?
First of all, it is necessary to skip and polish the surface qualitatively. Otherwise, it will absorb a large number of paints and varnishes, will become rough and unaesthetic. Then you can start painting. For many, there is nothing better than a fresh and pure new tree. However, if the interior requires to give the material a different shade, you can use color impregnation. In the arsenal of specialized stores, you can always find a wide range of various colors and shades: wenge, mahon, pear, oak, pine, rosewood and many, many others. The base is stained with two uniform layers with drying.
Even if the owner decided to leave a natural color, he still needs to process the surface with colorless impregnation, because these compounds additionally perform the function of protecting against infection with a fungus, mold and beetles-woodpeckers. Separately distinguish fire -retardant compositions for wood.
The impregnation serves as a primer for the finish coating, that is, it reduces its consumption and improves adhesion to the surface. And the finish coating is necessary, since the antiseptic impregnation is not able to fully protect the tree from the effects of moisture and atmospheric precipitation. The exception is those in which the varnish has already been added, their coloring has a glossy surface. Lacques, translucent and covering paints are used as a finish.
It would seem that everything is simple, but there are its nuances in this matter. Thus, spruce materials are distinguished for internal and external works. The former do not withstand temperature changes, the effects of atmospheric precipitation, as a result of which they crack and show off, they cannot be used in unheated rooms. Funds for external work can be used both inside and out of the premises, since they have higher impact resistance and wear resistance.
In addition, there are alkyd and acrylic compositions. The former can be distinguished by the pungent smell of solvent. They dry longer, forming a dense coating. Acrylic agents have a water base, their texture is thinner and lighter, they dry for several hours. The trick is that it is impossible to combine the impregnation and finish coating of different types, they are incompatible with each other, such a tandem will quickly become unusable.
If a fireproof composition was applied to the wood, it is not recommended to cover with alkyd varnishes and paints, as these are flammable materials.
