Houses in cottage settlements, as a rule, are operated in autonomous mode. This means that the problems of water supply, the arrangement of drainage and sewer systems, and most importantly, heating, are decided by homeowners on an individual basis.
Functions of chimneys and their features
The height of the chimney should not be below 5 meters
The presence of any heat generator, with the exception of the electric one, suggests the presence of a chimney through which products of solid or liquid fuel are removed into the atmosphere due to natural traction. The second high -temperature source of heat is fireplaces that have the highest requirements for chimneys.
The design of a country house provides for the arrangement of chimneys made of non -combustible materials: as a rule, it is a brick or ceramic resistant to temperature changes that meets all the requirements of fire standards. The installation of the chimney should be carried out at a professional level.
With the right approach, the chimney can serve as an additional heat source. Thus, heating efficiency can increase by 8-12%. Based on the volumes of the burned fuel, the savings are evident. The error made when creating a chimney can significantly reduce the efficiency of the heating system and cause premature refusal of the heat generator.
The height of the chimney is determined by several factors – these are features of the design itself, the power of the boiler, the cross section of the channel. For a boiler with a capacity of 15 kilowatts, the height of the output is at least 6 meters, for a heat generator, the power of which is twice, the height of the chimney is determined in 10 meters. In any option, the height should not be below 5 meters.
Brick or metal: which chimney to choose?
Despite the skill of the masons, the design of the brick chimney remains quite bulky. For compactness, the device is supplied with internal stainless steel liners, allowing to reduce the volume and material intensity of a brick chimney by about a third. At the same time, the requirements of the fire regulations are not violated, since the temperature of the surface of the structure does not go beyond the specified limits.
Internal metal cladding reduces the effect of destructive factors on the chimney material, which significantly increases its overhaul resource.
Metal chimney
A modern metal chimney can be equipped without brick external thermal insulation – its installation can be included in the total cost of roofing work. New chimney systems have been developed, consisting of two pipes of different diameters made of stainless steel. Hot gases go through a smaller pipe inserted into a steel shell. Thanks to this location of the pipes, even with intensive burning, the temperature of the external case does not exceed the safe limits.
The insulator filling the surrounding volume is the durable mineral -column material, which initially has low thermal conductivity. Such a design can be exposed to exposure for 15 years or more. For comparison: the resource of inserted steel is only 3-5 years.
New steel chimneys take up less space, can be compactly located in unused places of the room, including walls, do not need special service. The kit has corners, flanges, adapters and other mounting parts that contribute to the rapid installation of a chimney of any degree of complexity.
Stainless steel for the production of modern chimneys was not chosen by chance. During the combustion, a certain amount of water vapor is distinguished, which with combustion products forms chemically aggressive compounds with a significant list of destructive properties. In particular, the condensate resulting from temperature differences is an aqueous solution of several acids.
Fire thermal protection is provided in the places of pipe passage through wooden structures and reliable heat -resistant waterproofing in the places where the external part of the chimney with the profile of the roof.
