One of the most difficult and laborious finishing work of the masters is not in vain considered alignment of the ceiling. The easier leveling will be, of course, in a new building, where the ceiling plates still retained cleanliness and are relatively even. If the ceiling of your apartment was already being repaired, then it is simply necessary to remove all previous coatings until the wall manifests itself. What will you do: scrape, blur, chopping off, drill – do everything that your soul and your hands, but just until the moment when you see a clean plate in front of you.
The next and no less important stage is considered to identify irregularities in the original ceiling, especially if there are differences between plates. If the differences on your ceiling are not more than 5 cm, it is quite possible to align with special mixtures that can easily be diluted in water. If the differences between the slabs are more than 5 cm, then it is simply impossible to align without the help of drywall, chipboard and other building materials.
In practice, drywall sheets are most often used. This is one of the strong, environmentally friendly and refractory materials. Sheets must be fixed on a pre -fortified base, which can be made from transverse and longitudinal guides from metal or wood. Fasteners should be at a distance of more than 20 cm. After you fixed the sheets, smear the joints with putty, lay a reinforced mesh and put it again. Gypsum plasterboard does not require a primer, and now, the surface of the ceiling is ready for the final decoration.
Alignment of the ceiling with the help of mixtures is a very time -consuming and quite long process. It will be convenient if the height difference between the slabs is about 1 cm, in this case you can resort to the help of leveling plaster. But if this distance is more than a centimeter – your work will become more and more. Before applying a putty, you will have to primer slabs. So, putty will be more reliably attached. It is applied with a wide spatula, while the thickness of the layer should not be more than 2 cm. If this is not enough, it will be necessary to apply combs to the first layer with the help of a special comb and wait until they dry out. This process lasts about a day. After that, it will be possible to apply the next layer.
The final stage of alignment of the ceiling is the application of a thin layer of putty. But before that, it will be necessary to carefully examine the entire surface for the presence of various bumps. In case of detection, use sandpaper to eliminate them. After you apply the final layer of putty, the ceiling will need to be launched. After about 15 minutes, rubbing is made, which is made by a wide spatula. After the plaster has dried up, the ceiling is completely ready for further finishes (painting and pasting). You can make mirror ceilings to visually increase the space.
