A slab foundation is a foundation that is one continuous reinforced monolithic slab, which acts as a reliable basis for large buildings on complex subsidence and heaving soils. Moreover, the seasonal movements of the soil are not afraid of this species, the plate itself moves with their movement. This foundation, like any other type, in certain situations is the only reliable and correct solution.
The main criteria that determine the scope of the slab foundation:
Weak subsidence soils and significant loads on the foundation.
High level of groundwater.
Unevenly compressed soils.
For specialized buildings, which contains heavy equipment or other possible loads at anywhere in the entire area
The plin -end foundation is built in areas where there is no slope of the Earth, because in uneven areas it can slide. Before filling the plate, it is necessary to bring communications. We are talking about those of them that should be held underground and led to the structure. These include sewage pipes, strength wiring. Next, a pillow of gravel is made at least 30cm. Then the frame is knitted from the reinforcement, a blind area is made, which prevents concrete spreading.
The thickness of the slab foundation ranges from 25cm. and higher, so the blind area should be appropriate.
Next – pouring concrete. You need to pour at a time, t. e. completely fill the future plate with concrete without long breaks. Concrete is compacted by an industrial vibrator to exclude the formation of voids. The surface is leveled by the rule or a flat clay board. If you fulfill all the above conditions, the design will turn out to be reliable and monolithic.
In particular cases, pouring a monolithic slab foundation with stiffener ribs for heavy ceilings and a column of the built structure is required. They can be placed both up and down. If upward – the ribs are made from a steel frame, which is attached to the plate due to the anchor bolts pushed into it, or the reinforced concrete ribs are poured separately. If down, the appropriate recesses are made on the pillow, the reinforcement is settled and poured along with the stove.
When building a house with the basement, you need to dig a pit, at the bottom of which pour a slab foundation and then build the walls. In this case, the basement will turn out to the entire area of the house.
Using the above technology and emphasizing the knowledge presented, pouring a slab foundation with your own hands is quite simple. Indeed, in fact, all work can be done without involving specialized construction equipment.
The advantages of the slab foundation.
High bearing capacity due to a large support area.
The disadvantages of the slab foundation.
The high cost of the foundation.
