One of the questions in the construction of a house or repair is the choice of flooring, its foundation and coating. Consider the options, features and nuances of some of them.
The base of the floor can be made in three ways. It can be a chipboard or plywood, recently an option with prefabricated panels glued together, but most often a cement-sand or concrete screed is used.
The thickness of such a screed is usually about five centimeters, but if you want to “raise” the floor, then they use polystyrene foam or expediency, which, incidentally, differ in good heat indicators – and sound insulation. To perform work, a reinforcing welded grid will be needed, and if the area is large enough, it is recommended to make technological sections in the center of the room, which prevent the appearance of cracks. To obtain a perfectly flat and smooth surface, self -leveling mixtures are used. If the irregularities of the surface do not exceed two centimeters, then aligning it is much easier than making a new screed.
When you have achieved the desired flat surface, you can lay the flooring. The construction market offers a large assortment of this material, and experts advise taking different coatings for different rooms. For example, in the hallway, corridor and kitchen you can put ceramic tiles, linoleum or porcelain stoneware, and in the rooms – parquet, carpet or laminate. The coating can be chosen from both designer and practical considerations.
And a few words about the floor coverings themselves.
If you have chosen a parquet, then remember that it should be high -quality. On average, its thickness is 15-16 millimeters, but there are even 22 mm copies. The thickness of the parquet indicates its quality and affects the price. The thicker parquet is less subject to deformation with temperature and humidity drops and can last much longer.
The massive board is larger and more expensive than ordinary parquet and is used, as a rule, in spacious rooms where a large amount of furniture is not provided.
The parquet board is three layers of wood glued together, and the fibers of one layer are perpendicular to the fibers of the other layer, which gives the board a special strength. The upper layer is a dice made of elite wood with a thickness of 4 mm. It can lose its appearance after some time of operation, but it is easy to cope with this by grinding and varnish coating.
The laminate is cheap enough, but not very durable. Its service life is no more than 10 years. It is easy to install, but it is impossible to restore the damaged laminate.
Linoleum and carpet in recent years have acquired a reputation as covering office and office premises, so they are not so often used in residential buildings and apartments. However, a large selection of these materials allows you to find excellent flooring for children or bedrooms.
