In the late eighties of the twentieth century, the British designer Rachel Eshvel invented or, more precisely, finally designed a style that became known as Shebbi-Shik (Shebchic-a shameful brilliance, chic). It was originally used to decorate country houses in a rustic style.
It all started with the fact that many leaning British either bought furnished country houses, or purchased used things on sales, which were then repaired and painted. Such things, rubbed, with small defects, but high -quality and reliable began to form a new style of rooms.
In those years, the UK was passionate about historical styles. But the real antiques, to put it mildly, is not cheap, and well -preserved and rarely occurs at all. Therefore, designers began to come up with methods and techniques that would allow you to grow things, simulate antique.
A nascent thought was picked up by Rachel Ashlie, who created a store where it was “aged” by her things found at sales and flea markets. The designer repaired purchased furniture and decor items, put in order and sold. So Shebbi-Shik began to gain more and more popularity.
The essence of the style:
The essence of the style is in the very name. It can be any new or used, furniture that was artificially aged, “rewarding” it with numerous layers of paint, in some places even peeling, dullness and other “indicators” of old furniture. It is important to remember that all the furniture and the entire decor should be homogeneous, similar, there should not be a splash of modernity or any other style. The color scheme is unobtrusive, pastel shades of white, ivory, pink and blue colors are used. Suppose an ornament from inconspicuous strips or cells, as well as pastoral motifs, angels and roses.
Furniture of furniture in such an interior as if confirm their age and “time of time”, this will be especially well -decorated with motives from roses – this is not only practical and beautiful, but also gives the impression that the furniture along with the covers went to the family from the ancestors. The old fireplace and rocking chair will help strengthen this effect.
Curtains, bedspreads and textile lamps of lamps in the interior made in the style of Shebby-chic should be milk or light-beige, decorated with roses and angels. If you have knitted napkins, then feel free to use them, according to your imagination. Hend Mide is generally welcome in this style. This concerns not only knitted napkins, but also, for example, items made in the decoupage technique.
Colors:
The best option for the color scheme – shades, as close as possible to white, as well as a combination of different shades of this color. Ceilings and walls are also “aged”. The ceiling is made slightly grayish, necessarily with stucco molding, walls are glued with wallpaper with patterns, fashionable for several decades, and even a century ago. On the walls you can hang pictures and family photos in beautiful frames, arrange vases, candelabra. Well, an ideal floor covering will be a wooden parquet that has passed the aging procedure.
Old beautiful things can be found in expensive antique stores and fleece markets, but when creating an interior in the style of Shebbi-chic, the main thing is not to overdo it, because you hardly want to force the apartment to be not analyzed for things and turn it into a regular pantry.
