What could be better than a roof over your head? Only that roof that does not flow and does not cause inconvenience to the inhabitants of the house. A roof that has poor waterproofing can lead to problems such as damage to rafters, the appearance on the ceiling or walls of cracks, constant dampness in the house.
All this is extremely unpleasant, therefore, during the construction of a country or residential building, you should pay close attention to this moment.
There is a huge amount of funds intended to increase the roof waterproofing indicators in the modern building materials market.
The choice is large, however, it is worth considering the design features of a building, the individual needs of its owner, climatic conditions of the terrain and, of course, a budget allocated for construction or repair work. Conditionally, the materials for waterproofing the roof can be divided into several categories:
Polymer film;
Mastic (it is also coating waterproofing);
Penetrating waterproofing.
This is an incomplete list of funds, however, most often it has been used recently precisely these. The reason lies as such materials and their durability.
Polymer film for waterproofing the roof
This material is sold in narrow rolls, the price is quite affordable. The durability of the material is approximately twenty -five years. This means that once having made a high -quality waterproofing of the roof, you can forget about such work for a quarter of a century. The material is universal and suitable for all types of surface: wood, concrete, cement, metal. However, their subtleties are still present and they are in the method of laying the polymer film on the working surface of the roof.
The ballast way of laying. The membrane is placed on the roof and fixed along the perimeter of the canvas. After that, the surface of the film is covered with gravel, gravel. Less often – sand, but this material is not recommended for use. This method is used on roofs with an angle of tilt no more than ten percent.
Mechanical mount. The film is fixed using metal fasteners: nails, screws, etc.
Gluing the membrane to the working surface is permissible on those roofs that have a non -standard structure.
Using mastic in the waterproofing of the roof
Mastic belongs to coating waterproofing agents. The product is reliably and relatively durable: the roof repair will be required no earlier than after ten years, provided that the coating is high -quality.
The mastic itself is conditionally divided into two types:
Hot mastic. Before use, it should be heated to a temperature of one hundred and sixty degrees.
Cold mastic does not require warming up with the condition of use at least five degrees at an environmental temperature.
After solidifying this product, a continuous surface is formed, which in its properties resembles rubber. Mastic can be used on any surfaces, however, when working with roofs that have a strong slope, certain precautions should be observed. Otherwise, subteids may occur.
Roof waterproofing products
Such materials should be used only on perfectly purified surfaces. The reason for this lies in the principle of their action: penetration deep into the structure of concrete or cement. Penetrating waterproofing are liquid glass or liquid bitumen, which penetrate the smallest pores of the working surface of the roof and, when solidified, form crystals there. It is they who prevent the penetration of moisture through the roof material and retain the building from the destructive effect of moisture. It is worth noting that these funds can also be used to process other sections of buildings – walls, steps, balconies.
Regardless of which tool is chosen for the waterproofing of the roof, it should be remembered that competent specialists are a guarantor of quality and durability of the structure. Do not save on quality.
